Job summary

IMC Logistics in Columbus, OH is seeking a Dispatcher to coordinate delivery schedules, quote rates, and communicate customer needs to the dispatch team. You will exercise independent judgment on pricing and service requirements to meet customer expectations.

Responsibilities include entering orders, tracking shipments, notifying supervisors of service issues, and contributing to process improvements while maintaining accurate location profiles in the system.

Qualifications

• Experience with port/rail operations and US customs processes.

Responsibilities

• Receive/schedule delivery orders and inform dispatch with discretion.
• Enter orders into the dispatch system; understand transportation workflows.
• Verify bookings and trace shipments to ensure on-time delivery.
• Prepare reports and maintain tracking/appointment boards.
• Notify supervisors of service failures and participate in improvement efforts.
• Create/update location profiles and assist as dispatcher when needed.

Position Overview:

Communicate customer delivery needs and appointment dates/times, quote rates of customer and relates service requirements to dispatchers. Regularly use own discretion and judgment in making independent pricing decisions.

Essential Functions:

• Receives/schedules all delivery orders and requests from customers and must exercise discretion and use independent judgment when relating customer requests, schedules and informing dispatch.
• Enters all orders into computer for dispatch – technical lines require specialized training, experience or knowledge of transportation industry.
• Verifies bookings are released at depots for export moves, and traces import containers on the rail to confirm delivery is made by last free day.
• Prepare customer reports and tracking/tracing as required such that CNI, Daily Activity, and Appointment Board.
• Notifies Cargo Specialist Supervisor / management of all service failures.
• Proposes and implements solutions to improve overall customer service
• Creates and updates location profiles in computer system
• Works as dispatcher as volume/vacation schedule dictates
• Other projects as assigned by management
