Job description

Eagle Pass Utilities is seeking a full-time Customer Service Representative to join its office team in Eagle Pass, Texas. This position is the primary point of contact between the utility and its residential and commercial customers, handling account inquiries, payment processing, service requests, and complaint resolution. If you are organized, bilingual, and comfortable working with the public in a fast-paced municipal environment, this role is worth a close look.

What You Will Be Doing

Day-to-day work centers on serving customers at the front counter and by phone. You will process utility payments, set up new service accounts, update customer information, and handle requests for service disconnections and reconnections. When customers call about billing disputes or service issues, you will be the first person gathering information and routing the request to the right department.

Additional duties include preparing daily cash receipts, reconciling payment records, and maintaining accurate documentation of all customer interactions. You will also assist customers in understanding their bills, available payment plans, and any assistance programs the utility offers.

Requirements

Candidates should meet the following minimum qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required; associate's degree in business or a related field preferred
• One or more years of customer service experience in a utility, municipal, or office setting
• Bilingual in English and Spanish, required for this role serving the Eagle Pass community
• Proficiency in basic computer applications including Microsoft Office and database entry
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to handle cash accurately and maintain confidential customer records

Compensation and Benefits

Starting pay ranges from $15.50 to $18.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Work Schedule

This is a full-time position. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional extended hours may be required during high-demand periods or following major service disruptions.
