Job summary

Callanan Industries, Inc., a CRH Company, is seeking a Customer Service Representative to provide exceptional service in a fast-paced aggregates and asphalt environment.

You will take orders, input into our POS, coordinate deliveries, and support sales and dispatch teams; overtime and regional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience in a fast-paced environment preferred.
• Basic computer skills and MS Office proficiency.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Overtime willingness and good communication with supervisors and drivers.
• Experience with MSHA, OSHA, and DOT rules is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Take and fulfill customer orders for aggregates and asphalt, including delivery instructions.
• Input orders into the point-of-sale system.
• Verify product is suitable for the job and liaise with QC or sales as needed.
• Coordinate deliveries with operations/haulers from optimal locations.
• Contact customers regarding delays and proactive project updates.
• Keep the Customer Service/Dispatch Manager and sales informed of issues.
• Collaborate with Sales regarding scheduling.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Customer Service Representative is responsible for providing exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. This position requires the employee to perform a wide variety of Customer Service functions including, but not limited to, the following:

• Take and fulfill customer orders for aggregates and asphalt including product delivery instructions
• Input orders into our point-of-sale system
• Make sure the product that the customer is ordering is correct for that job or project. Contact the QC or sales department if a different product is requested
• Collaborate with operations/haulers to coordinate delivery from the best location
• Call customers in advance of late deliveries or delays in service
• Proactively reach out to customers on new secured projects
• Keep the Customer Service/Dispatch Manager and sales department informed of problems or concerns throughout the day that may require their knowledge or attention
• Communicate directly with the Sales regarding scheduling
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Candidate must be energetic and customer friendly with the ability to work in a fast paced team atmosphere that focuses around the customer in the aggregates, asphalt & construction industry.

• Demonstrate a willingness to work overtime
• Demonstrates ability to work and communicate well with Supervisors, Dispatchers, Drivers and other employees
• Demonstrate the ability to conform to and maintain MSHA, OSHA, DOT and all other company or governmental state rules and regulations.
• Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required
• Occasional regional travel
• Ability to complete and pass pre-employment screenings

Education/Experience

• Aggregate and asphalt experience preferred but will train the right candidate
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Experience with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel is preferred
• This position offers a rate of $26-$27 hourly
