Job summary

CSL Plasma is seeking a dedicated individual to prepare donors and equipment for the pheresis process. Responsibilities include monitoring donors, ensuring safety, and maintaining accurate records. Job description

The Opportunity

Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis processors.

You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role

  1. Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
  2. Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, responding to specific alarms or signals that may occur during the process.
  3. Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
  4. Maintain alertness and awareness of any reactions the donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notify appropriate staff.
  5. Use a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and donor adverse events.
  6. Use PDA to link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor.
  7. Alert the Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
  8. Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  9. Understand policies and procedures related to hyperimmune programs at the center, if applicable.
  10. Maintain a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient supplies and forms are available as needed. Follow all Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and promote safety in all actions.
  11. Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  12. May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
  13. Bilingual skills may be required, at the organization's discretion, to meet business needs.
  14. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Experience

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic math skills are required.

Working Conditions

  • Understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
  • Follow basic instructions and guidelines.
  • Must be able to see and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
  • Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
  • Reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Be exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens; PPE is required in specific areas.
  • Work overtime and extended hours to support center operations.
