Job Description

Summary: Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis process.

Main Responsibilities

• Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and the pheresis process; respond to alarms or signals during the process.
• Disconnect the donor upon completion.
• Observe and respond to donor reactions during or after the process; notify staff as needed.
• Record incidents using Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), including alarms, volume variances, and adverse events.
• Link equipment and supplies to the donor via PDA.
• Alert Group Leader or Supervisor about donor flow issues.
• Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic system per SOPs.
• Understand policies related to hyper immune programs if applicable.
• Maintain a clean work environment, ensure supplies are available, and follow all safety and health policies.
• Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
• Possibly cross-train in other areas to meet business needs.
• Bilingual skills may be required based on organizational needs.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three months' experience, preferably in a medical or health environment, or equivalent education and experience.
• Basic math skills required.

Working Conditions

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Must see, speak with customers, and observe equipment operation.
• Stand and walk up to 100% of the time; reach, bend, kneel, manual dexterity required.
• Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
• Fast-paced environment with interruptions; exposure to chemicals, temperatures, blood-borne pathogens; PPE required.
• Overtime and extended hours may be required.
