Job Description
Summary: Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis process.
Main Responsibilities
- Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
- Monitor the donor and the pheresis process; respond to alarms or signals during the process.
- Disconnect the donor upon completion.
- Observe and respond to donor reactions during or after the process; notify staff as needed.
- Record incidents using Personal Digital Assistant (PDA), including alarms, volume variances, and adverse events.
- Link equipment and supplies to the donor via PDA.
- Alert Group Leader or Supervisor about donor flow issues.
- Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic system per SOPs.
- Understand policies related to hyper immune programs if applicable.
- Maintain a clean work environment, ensure supplies are available, and follow all safety and health policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
- Possibly cross-train in other areas to meet business needs.
- Bilingual skills may be required based on organizational needs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of three months' experience, preferably in a medical or health environment, or equivalent education and experience.
- Basic math skills required.
Working Conditions
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
- Must see, speak with customers, and observe equipment operation.
- Stand and walk up to 100% of the time; reach, bend, kneel, manual dexterity required.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
- Fast-paced environment with interruptions; exposure to chemicals, temperatures, blood-borne pathogens; PPE required.
- Overtime and extended hours may be required.
