Job description

The Opportunity

Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area, and equipment for the pheresis processors.

You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.

The Role

  • Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
  • Monitor the donor and the pheresis process, respond to specific alarms or signals that may occur during the process.
  • Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
  • Maintain alertness to any reactions the donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notify appropriate staff.
  • Use Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, and donor adverse events.
  • Link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor using PDA.
  • Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
  • Ensure accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Understand policies and procedures related to hyper immune programs at the center, if applicable.
  • Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure sufficient operating supplies and forms are available. Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies and promote safety in all actions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
  • Bilingual skills may be required, at the organization's discretion, to meet business needs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Experience

Education

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in a medical or health provider environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.

Working Conditions (Physical & Mental Requirements)

  • Understand, remember, and apply oral and written instructions.
  • Follow basic instructions and guidelines.
  • See and speak with customers and observe equipment operation.
  • Occasionally perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
  • Reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Be exposed to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and blood-borne pathogens; wear Personal Protective Equipment as required.
  • Work overtime and extended hours to support center operations.
