Job summary

CSL in Columbus, OH is seeking an Apheresis Technician to prepare donors, donor areas and equipment for the pheresis process, and to operate the autopheresis machine.

You will monitor the donor, respond to alarms, record incidents in the PDA and the donor information system, and maintain safety and confidentiality while following SOPs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in medical or health provider environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
• Prepare the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitor the donor and pheresis process, responding to alarms or signals.
• Disconnect the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintain alertness to donor reactions and notify staff.
• Record incidents using PDA, including alarms, volume variances and adverse events.
• Link equipment and supplies to the appropriate donor in the PDA.
• Alert Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Record donor data accurately in the electronic donor information management system.
• Follow policies for hyper immune programs if applicable.
• Maintain a clean, efficient work environment and ensure sufficient supplies; follow HSE/OSHA policies.
• Maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas.
• Bilingual skills may be required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Uses Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) to record incidents that occur during the pheresis process, such as machine alerts and alarms, volume variances and donor adverse events.
• Uses PDA to link equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor.
• Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensures the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Understands the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
• Maintains clean efficient work environment, and ensures sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed. Follows all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures. Promotes safety in all actions.

The expected base pay for this position at hiring is $16.61/hour - $18.13/hour. Please note this wage range reflects what CSL expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base pay for a successful candidate within this range is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors.
