Job summary

CSL Buffalo, NY is seeking an apheresis support technician to prepare the donor area and equipment for the pheresis process and to ready the autopheresis machine for use. The role involves closely monitoring the donor and process, responding to alarms, and disconnecting the donor upon completion.

The incumbent will record incidents in the PDA, link equipment to donors, and ensure accurate donor data in the electronic system per SOPs while upholding HSE/OSHA safety standards and donor

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of three (3) months’ work experience, preferably in medical or health provider environment or equivalent education/experience.
• Must be able to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for preparing the donor, donor area and equipment for the pheresis process.
• Prepares the autopheresis machine for the pheresis process.
• Monitors the donor and the pheresis process, responds to alarms or signals that may occur during the process.
• Disconnects the donor when the process is complete.
• Maintains alertness to donor reactions during or after the pheresis process and notifies staff.
• Uses PDA to record incidents during the pheresis process (machine alerts, alarms, volume variances, donor events).
• Links equipment and soft goods used in the pheresis process to the appropriate donor in PDA.
• Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
• Ensures accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system per SOPs.
• Understands policies and procedures associated with hyper-immune programs at the center if applicable.
• Maintains a clean, efficient work environment and ensures supplies/forms are available; follows HSE/OSHA policies.
• Maintains confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
• May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
• Bilingual skills may be required, at the organization’s discretion.
• Perform job-related duties as assigned.

The expected base pay for this position at hiring is $16.61/hour - $18.13/hour. Please note this wage range reflects what CSL expects to pay for this position at the listed location as of the time of this posting. Individual base pay for a successful candidate within this range is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies and other relevant factors.
