Customer Service Clerk

Position Objective: To assist customers in their shopping experience by providing the most efficient and courteous customer service possible.

Reporting Structure: This position reports to the Office Manager.

Status: Non-exempt position.

Knowledge

Essential Knowledge

• A liquor license must be obtained prior to the first day of work (if applicable).
• Completion of ongoing training as listed on the Cosentino’s Learning Plan.

Non-Essential Knowledge

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Skills

Basic skill requirements for this position include:

• Implementing the Casentino Customer Service Standards.
• Providing team members with necessary information (policy updates, merchandise, sales).
• Knowledge of products to answer customer questions courteously.
• Operating, cleaning, and maintaining equipment safely.
• Meeting or exceeding productivity standards.
• Maintaining a clean and professional front end appearance.
• Handling returns, exchanges, and price adjustments efficiently and courteously.
• Monitoring front end activity and making adjustments for customer needs.
• Assisting cashiers during transactions to ensure a friendly experience.
• Resolving customer complaints professionally and involving management when necessary.
• Complying with health, sanitation, safety regulations, and governmental laws regarding weights, measures, alcohol, tobacco, and food assistance programs.

Non-Essential Job Functions

• Pushing and pulling grocery items and carts (up to 10 lbs).
• Standing and walking for long periods on hard surfaces.
• Occasionally lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
• Bending and squatting to floor level.
• Climbing ladders up to 5 ft (non-essential).
