Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store associate to act as the point of contact for customers, assist in setting and maintaining plan-o-grams and programs, stock merchandise adequately, and perform other duties to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.

You will unload trucks, stock shelves, build displays, greet customers, operate the cash register, collect payments, and help with ordering using handheld scanners, all while upholding safety policies and protecting company assets.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons; store merchandise.
• Build merchandise displays and stock shelves.
• Rotate and face merchandise on shelves.
• Restock recovered merchandise.
• Assist customers by locating merchandise.
• Operate cash register and bag merchandise; handle payments.
• Assist with ordering merchandise using hand-held scanners.
• Clean store areas and maintain safety/compliance.
