Job summary

Qualifications

• Customer service experience
• Effective communication skills
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage, and assist customers at the check lane
• Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently
• Operate POS system and handle cash, checks, credits, SNAP/EBT, WIC, coupons
• Follow cash-handling limits and loss-prevention guidelines
• Adhere to rules for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs)
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
• Follow policies for stamps, gift cards, and coupons
• Stay current with ads and promotions
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines
• Support safety programs and report unsafe conditions
• Inspect equipment and report needed repairs
• Create a welcoming environment and assist customers with product questions
• Follow laws and company guidelines; work cooperatively in a fast-paced setting
• Manage conflicts calmly and professionally
• Act with honesty and integrity; follow directions and seek help when needed
• Support minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults
