Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is hiring a Cashier/Checker to deliver an outstanding customer experience in a fast-paced store environment in Illinois. You will greet customers, handle checkouts, and process a variety of payment methods while following policies on coupons, loyalty offers, and restricted items.

You will ensure accuracy at the register, adhere to safety and food-handling rules, and assist customers with questions about products and promotions, contributing to a welcoming and efficient

• Customer service experience required.
• Strong communication skills in all interactions.
• Basic math ability for checkout and pricing.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers at the register.
• Process transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently.
• Operate POS system and handle cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, WIC and coupons.
• Adhere to cash limits, shrink prevention and loss prevention policies.
• Enforce restricted-sale guidelines (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety guidelines and safety procedures.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify management.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs as needed.
• Create a welcoming environment and assist customers with product questions.
• Follow local, state and federal laws and store guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced environment and manage conflicts calmly.
• Maintain honesty and integrity with customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.
• Support minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
