Job summary

Dollar General in New Iberia, LA is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run a clean, customer-first store under the direction of the Store Manager. You will supervise staff, manage merchandise, handle deposits, and support profitability while protecting assets.

This role requires strong communication, organization, and cash-handling skills; prior retail and supervisory experience is preferred. You will assist with scheduling, training, planograms, and ensuring compliance with policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to operate cash registers and scanners and follow cash controls.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing adequate training for employees, conducting safety meetings, and ensuring employee compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Manage merchandise by receiving, unpacking, stocking, restocking and building displays according to planograms.
• Maintain inventory accuracy by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facility controls.
• Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability, key control, and deposits; sign for refunds and overrides and count tills.
• Assist with management of the store in the Store Manager's absence.
