Job summary

• Customer Service skills required.
• Effective communication skills required.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Grocery Clerk helps customers discover items and answer questions.
• Informs customers of specials and suggests products to meet their needs.
• Checks product quality and expiration dates and takes appropriate action.
• Provides customers with requested grocery products, fresh and non-perishable.
• Labels, stocks, and inventories department merchandise.
• Reports ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Maintains safety and cleanliness, including temperature logs where applicable.
• Gains knowledge of products and responds to customer queries with recommendations.
• Ensures a welcoming environment by assisting customers and safeguarding their experience.
• Adheres to safety procedures and reports unsafe conditions to management.
• Performs preventive maintenance and notifies management of repairs.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage conflicts constructively.
• Provides support to customers including minors and individuals with special needs.
