Job summary

Responsibilities

• Promote trust and respect among associates.
• Create an environment that welcomes customers by answering questions about products.
• Gain and maintain knowledge of products and respond to questions with suggestions.
• Recommend grocery items to ensure customer needs are met and inform about specials.
• Check product quality to ensure freshness and review sell-by dates.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise and provide fresh products ordered.
• Report product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Display a positive attitude.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintain logs.
• Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions to store management.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report safety risks or illegal activity including robbery or theft.
