Job summary

C&S Wholesale Grocers, LLC is hiring for a front-end cashier role at our Saint Ignace location. You will operate the cash register and scanner, itemize purchases, accept various payment methods, bag items, and assist customers with a friendly, efficient checkout experience.

The role requires basic math, good communication, and strong organizational skills. Retail experience is preferred, and you’ll work in a fast-paced grocery environment with safety and sanitation standards in place.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of retail or related experience preferred.
• Good verbal communication skills; ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
• Good customer service and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
• Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Operates cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases; handles a variety of products.
• Processes financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, rain checks, voids, and coupons.
• Weighs and bags customer purchases.
• Understand use of check-stand equipment (register, scanner, scale, belts) and its efficient operation.
• Responsible for front-end duties such as merchandising check-stand (newspapers, periodicals, candy, etc.).
• Ensures proper use of product identification and PLUs; reports pricing or signage errors.
• Maintains knowledge of current store programs and product locations.
• Communicates company programs and in-store specials to customers; models high service standards.
• complies with policies on security, cash handling, product handling, and sale of alcohol/tobacco.
• Maintains a clean, well-stocked department; follows safety and sanitation procedures.
• May assist with stocking items.
• Follows PPE and Food Safety guidelines.
• Follows guest experience guidelines.
• May be assigned tasks in other departments as needed.
• Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
