Job summary

Fusek's Ace Hardware in Indianapolis is seeking a friendly cashier to operate the checkout counter and assist customers with questions. You’ll help create an outstanding first impression and support a smooth, efficient shopping experience while upholding store policies.

Responsibilities include greeting customers, answering questions, processing transactions, stocking displays, and participating in staff meetings.

Qualifications

• Outstanding customer service skills and a professional attitude.

• Good math and cash register skills.
• Have a general understanding of store merchandise with a willingness to continually expand knowledge.
• Capacity to follow through on assignments and self-motivated to stay busy throughout the day.
• Able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
• Highly organized, ability to multi-task with acute attention to detail.
• Able to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers, and management.
• Able to lift and handle products of varying weight as needed to carry out cashier duties.
• Understand how to efficiently operate the store’s point-of-sale system. Knowledge of MS Word and PowerPoint is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate checkout and process all transactions accurately.
• Welcome customers and maintain a clean front end.
• Answer questions and locate merchandise in the store.
• Answer phones promptly and transfer to the correct department.
• Maintain an efficient checkout process and orderly traffic flow.
• Know store policies and procedures, including returns, refunds, payments, deliveries.
• Promote loyalty programs and seasonal promotions.
• Identify shoplifters and respond per policy.
• Maintain displays and area around checkout, stocking and cleaning.
• Open/close cash till procedures.
• Assist store staff with other tasks as needed.
• Attend staff meetings.
• Adhere to store policies and safety standards.
