Job summary

Kroger in New Baltimore, MI is hiring for a Cashier/Checker to create an outstanding customer experience. You will greet customers, process transactions, and help ensure a safe, clean store.

The position requires knowledge of POS systems, cash handling, loyalty offers, and following company policies. You will support customers with diverse needs and maintain compliance with food safety and loss-prevention guidelines.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers in a visible, friendly manner.
• Process cashier transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently.
• Understand POS system and handle cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons and loyalty offers per policy.
• Adhere to cash shortage/overage limits and loss-prevention guidelines.
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Create a welcoming environment and assist customers with product questions.
• Comply with local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts calmly and professionally.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
