Job summary

Sermetro is seeking a Customer Service Representative to be the first point of contact at the Northwest Activities Center in Detroit, MI. You will answer calls, greet visitors, and refer inquiries to the appropriate staff.

The role supports the Career Center’s services, assists in the Resource Room, handles office tasks, and maintains participant records with a non-exempt hourly status.

Qualifications

• Three years of customer service experience.
• Mental ability to handle pressures from multitasking with disruptions.
• Ability to interact with customers from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Knowledge of office equipment and basic data input.
• Ability to prepare routine reports and file materials neatly.
• Ability to read and interpret procedures.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule and sit for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Answers telephones and directs callers to staff.
• Greets customers in the lobby and provides program information.
• Conducts initial assessment of customers’ needs.
• Provides orientation to Career Center services.
• Assists in the Resource Room with job search activities.
• Maintains respectful, helpful interactions with customers.
• Input data into the reporting system and assist with documents.
• Supports staff with office duties and uses standard office equipment.
• Keeps detailed participant records and organized filing system.
• Maintains inventory of center supplies.
