Job summary

G&M Oil Company, Inc. in Southern California is seeking a store associate to deliver exceptional customer service, manage daily sales, and maintain a clean, safe store environment. You will operate POS terminals, handle transactions, stock merchandise, and assist with food prep and promotions.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Excellent computer skills / competency in PDI Enterprise POS (evaluation required).
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to learn simple tasks quickly and work with little or no supervision.
• Basic math skills.
• Food Handlers Permit, if required by store/county.
• Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) in English.
• Have open availability to work all shifts as needed at home store and other stores within district when the need arises.

Responsibilities

• Operate POS (cash register and fuel console) precisely and accurately handle money and other types of payment received for product sold.
• Perform service transactions in accordance with company policy: credit card transactions, manufacturer coupon redemption, vendor check-in, alcohol, tobacco and lottery sales, and fast food sales.
• Check identification for alcohol, tobacco and lottery products according to company policy.
• Actively participate in all sales promotions and other campaigns. Practice suggestive selling and build customer relations.
• Review and adhere to all city, county, state, and federal laws affecting store operations.
• Prepare hot food items and maintain condiment bar, monitor fresh food availability, and other duties as assigned.
• Maintain a neat and clean store inside and out; ensure equipment is in working condition.
• Receive product deliveries, stock shelves, and ensure no holes on shelves.
• Follow safety procedures and participate in store team activities.
