Job summary

Kroger at 1410 S Kansas Ave in Newton, KS is seeking a friendly Cashier/Checker to help create an outstanding customer experience and ensure a safe, clean environment. You’ll greet customers, process transactions, and follow store policies to support a smooth checkout and loyalty programs.

Ideal candidates bring basic math skills, prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk is a plus, and a commitment to honesty, safety, and exceptional service. On-site, part-time roles available.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers at the check lane.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Handle POS tender types (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons) according to policy.
• Adhere to cash shortage/overage limits and help prevent loss.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety procedures and report unsafe conditions to management.
• Inspect equipment and report repairs as needed.
• Create a welcoming environment by answering product questions.
• Follow local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced or stressful environment.
• Manage conflicts calmly and professionally.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide support to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
