Job summary

The Kroger Company is seeking a customer-focused cashier/checker at our Juneau, AK location. You will greet and assist customers, process transactions, and ensure accurate handling of cash and other tenders while following company policies and safety guidelines.

Responsibilities include operating the POS system, managing promotions and discounts, and maintaining a clean, welcoming environment. Previous grocery experience is a plus, with opportunities for part-time or full-time hours.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Responsibilities

• Greeting, engaging and assisting customers at the check lane
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently
• Operate the POS system and handle cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons per policy
• Adhere to cash shortage/overage limits and loss prevention guidelines
• Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs)
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines
• Support safety programs and report unsafe conditions to management
• Inspect equipment and report repairs as needed
• Create a welcoming environment and help customers with product questions
• Adhere to local, state and federal laws and company guidelines
• Able to work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment
• Able to manage conflicts calmly and honestly handle customer information
• Willingness to assist minors, customers with special needs, and older adults
• Must be able to perform essential duties with or without accommodation
