Job summary

Kroger is seeking a friendly, customer-focused Cashier/Checker to greet customers, process transactions, and maintain a safe store environment. You will handle multiple payment methods, follow loss prevention guidelines, and assist with promotions while providing accurate service.

The role emphasizes teamwork in a fast-paced setting and requires adherence to all safety and regulatory guidelines. Experience in customer service is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system and handle multiple tenders (cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons).
• Adhere to cash shortages/overages limits and prevent loss.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
• Inspect equipment and report needed repairs.
• Create a welcoming environment and answer product questions.
• Follow local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment.
