Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies in Columbus, MS is seeking a Customer Service Cashier/Checker to greet customers, process transactions and maintain a clean, safe store environment.

As a member of our store team you will handle POS operations, ensure compliance with policy, assist guests including those with special needs, and contribute to a positive shopping experience while upholding company values.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).

Responsibilities

• Greet, assist and engage customers in the checkout area.
• Process customer transactions quickly and accurately at the checkout.
• Operate the POS system and handle cash, checks, debit, card, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons and promotions.
• Follow policies on cash handling, shortages/overages and loss prevention.
• Adhere to guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify appropriate staff of repairs.
• Provide friendly service and answer product questions.
• Comply with local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in fast-paced, sometimes stressful environments.
• Manage conflicts calmly and honestly.
• Protect customer and business information; follow directions.
• Assist minors, persons with special needs, and older adults.
• Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
