Job summary

Dollar General Corporation is seeking a store associate to act as the primary contact for customers, assist in setting and maintaining plan-o-grams, stock merchandise, and help maximize profitability and customer satisfaction on a fast-paced sales floor.

You will greet customers, operate the cash register, process payments, and support with inventory, displays, and merchandising routines while upholding safety standards and company policies.

Qualifications

• Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.
• Knowledge of basic cash handling procedures.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to perform IBM cash register functions.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks.
• Receive, open and unpack cartons and totes; store merchandise in stock room or move to sales floor.
• Build merchandise displays and stock merchandise; rotate and face shelves.
• Restock recovered merchandise and assist customers in locating items.
• Greet customers and operate cash register to itemize and total purchases.
• Collect payments and make change; assist with ordering merchandise using hand-held scanners.
• Clean store areas and maintain safety and cleanliness standards.
