Job summary

Goodwill Industries of Erie, Huron, Ottawa and Sandusky Counties Inc is seeking a Retail Clerk at the Port Clinton store. You will provide customer service, operate the POS, and assist with stocking, merchandising and store security.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, retail experience preferred, and strong communication skills to engage a diverse customer base. Regular attendance and safety compliance are expected as part of a friendly team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• Retail experience preferred but not required.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrate ability to lead staff; to work with a diverse public.
• Knowledge of retail operations, sales, community and customers relations.
• Knowledge of computer technology, including cash register and POS systems, Word, Excel, social media and email.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. consistently.

Responsibilities

• Operate store cash register/POS system: ring up purchases, handle money, apply discounts.
• Count cash drawers at opening/closing; keep check stands organized.
• Maintain store operation records; complete management reports accurately.
• Answer phones professionally and maintain a positive public image.
• Promote sales and assist customers with locating merchandise.
• Assist customers loading large items for pickup or delivery.
• Ensure facility and merchandise security; follow loss prevention procedures.
• Sort, pull, display and arrange merchandise as directed by managers.
• Follow company policies; help others understand and follow procedures.
• Promote teamwork among coworkers.
• Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality.
• Attend safety training and follow safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
