Job summary

SpartanNash's Family Fare in Marshall, Michigan is seeking a part-time store associate to help customers, stock shelves, and process transactions efficiently.

You will maintain a clean, organized department, operate the cash register, enroll guests in the loyalty program, and uphold safety, sanitation, and guest‑experience guidelines.

This role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and a courteous attitude in a fast-paced retail environment. Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of retail or related experience preferred.
• Good verbal communication skills; ability to interact politely and effectively with customers.
• Good customer service and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
• Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, bottle refunds, voids, and coupons accurately and in accordance with policy.
• Assist in receiving, unloading and stocking products in required areas of the store.
• Front-end duties such as running the cash register, suggestive selling (lottery, etc.), enrolling guests in loyalty program, maintaining a clean service area.
• Ensure proper use of PLU codes; report pricing or signage errors.
• Maintain understanding of current store programs and product locations (One More Item, department flight plan).
• Communicate store programs, in-store specials and coupons to customers; model high service standards.
• Comply with policies regarding security, cash handling, product handling, sale of alcohol and tobacco, etc.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked department and grounds; comply with safety and sanitation standards.
• Assist with stocking items on sales floor, cooler, and back room.
• Follow PPE and Safety Guidelines; follow Food Safety and Cleaning Expectations; follow Guest Experience Guidelines.
• May be assigned tasks in other departments based on customer needs; additional responsibilities may be assigned.
