Job summary

Fred Meyer, Inc. is seeking a friendly Cashier/Checker to greet customers, process transactions at the checkout, and help maintain a safe, clean store environment.

You will be visible, engaging, and ready to assist shoppers with inquiries about products and promotions. This role requires basic math, effective communication, and the ability to work in a fast paced setting while following store policies and safety guidelines.

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers at the checkout area.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system and handle cash, checks, cards, SNAP EBT, and other tender types per policy.
• Adhere to cash handling limits and loss prevention guidelines.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator and follow up as needed.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons; stay updated on ads and promotions.
• Comply with all food safety regulations and safety procedures; report unsafe conditions.
• Maintain equipment and seek repairs when needed; ensure a clean and safe work environment.
• Provide friendly, helpful service so customers feel welcome and valued within the store.
