Job summary

ShopRite Newark, DE is seeking an associate to deliver a great customer experience at the checkout, scanning, pricing and bagging items, collecting payments and providing correct change. You will help customers quickly and accurately in a friendly manner.

The role requires strong English, basic math, and the ability to stand for long periods. Youll work with team members to maintain safety, sanitation, and efficient service while following store policies.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak English clearly and understand basic instructions.
• Ability to perform basic math for handling payments and change.
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a shift.
• Regularly lift 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work with a variety of products and handle merchandise safely.
• Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine duties.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and environments.
• Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to adhere to time and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
• Clean and sanitize work surfaces and equipment per QA standards.
• Keep floor clear of debris and spills.
• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service at the front end.
• Process payments accurately and provide correct change.
• Operate the cash register and handle various payment forms per guidelines.
• Bag customer orders safely and efficiently.
• Promote current charitable promotions to customers.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and company policies at all times.
• Attend trainings and maintain punctual attendance.
