Job summary

Kroger Co. in Wheeling, WV is seeking a friendly Cashier/Checker to deliver outstanding customer experiences at the checkout. You will greet customers, process transactions quickly and accurately, and answer questions about products throughout the store.

You will operate the POS, handle cash and other tender types, follow loss-prevention guidelines, and adhere to safety and food-safety policies while contributing to a welcoming, efficient shopping environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers in the store.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.
• Operate the POS system and handle tenders including Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, and coupons per policy.
• Adhere to company policies on cash handling, shortages/overages and loss prevention.
• Follow guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator and follow postages stamps and gift cards policies.
• Maintain awareness of ads, promotions, and food safety regulations; follow safety procedures.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify management; assist with equipment inspection and maintenance.
• Provide helpful product information and ensure customers feel welcome and valued.
