Job summary

The Kroger team in Juneau, AK is looking for a Customer Service-focused Cashier/Checker. You will greet customers, assist at the checkout, and process transactions quickly and accurately in a safe, clean environment.

You will work with the POS system, handle multiple tender types, and adhere to company policies on restricted items and promotions. Prior Bagger/Courtesy Clerk experience is a plus, with flexible scheduling and benefits available.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math, counting, addition, and subtraction required.
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage and assist customers at the checkout.
• Process customer transactions quickly, accurately and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system and handle tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons) per policy.
• Follow loss prevention guidelines and manage cash shortages/overages honestly.
• Adhere to guidelines for restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator and follow postage/gift card/coupon procedures.
• Stay current with ads and promotions; adhere to food safety regulations and safety procedures.
• Identify unsafe conditions and notify management; inspect equipment and notify for repairs.
• Provide friendly help to customers and colleagues to create a welcoming environment.
