Job summary

ABB is seeking a Customer Application Engineer to design, develop, and validate applications for critical power and building electrification in the North American market. This role links R&D with customers to drive market-ready solutions and support new product development.

Responsibilities include developing applications, engaging with US-based OEMs, coordinating with R&D, Product Management, and Digital teams, and validating performance while contributing to market strategy and standardization

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Master's preferred).
• Experience with CAD design (3D, 2D, and BOMs) and PLM software (Windchill).
• Experience in product development and new product introduction
• Strong understanding of electrical systems; ability to read, understand, and design electrical diagrams
• Agile mindset with experience in agile working environments
• Negotiation, market knowledge, leadership, and strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to travel domestically up to 20% of the time

Responsibilities

• Application Development – Develop applications and solutions for critical power and building electrification; create training materials, value propositions, and marketing communications
• Customer Engagement – Collect and understand customer requirements from US-based OEMs; conduct market intelligence and competitive analysis to inform product strategy
• Cross-Functional Leadership – Coordinate with internal ABB teams (R&D, Product Management, Digital) to execute business plans and develop dedicated customer solutions
• Validation & Testing – Support application testing, validation, and optimization to ensure quality and performance
• Solution Consulting – Help customers identify optimal solutions for their projects and ensure seamless customer journey experiences (e.g., application configurators)
• Market Strategy – Monitor industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory standards; recommend strategic adjustments for long and mid-term planning
• Industry Collaboration – Participate in national and international standardization committees
• Digital Marketing Support – Contribute to application-related digital marketing campaigns and initiatives
