• Read and follow mechanical drawings and production paperwork; perform testing and calibrations.
• Keep work area clean, organized, and safe; assist in other production areas as needed.

Custom Probe Assembler (Entry-Level)

Palmer Wahl Instruments is hiring an entry-level Custom Probe Assembler for our Asheville team. If you like working with your hands, paying attention to detail, and learning practical skills, this could be a great opportunity. This position is a chance to learn from experienced assemblers, build real manufacturing skills, and take pride in making quality products for customers.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, willing to learn, accepts direction well, and takes pride in doing quality work.

Schedule

Monday - Thursday
6:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Enjoy a 4-day workweek with a 3-day weekend every week.

What You'll Do

• Assemble custom probes to customer and production specifications
• Perform detailed assembly work using small parts and hand tools
• Use hand soldering or brazing during the assembly process
• Read and follow mechanical drawings, work instructions, and production paperwork
• Perform product testing and calibrations
• Safely use bench tools and power tools
• Help in other production areas at Palmer Wahl as needed
• Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe
• Take pride in building quality products that meet customer expectations

Training and Growth

Position Requirements

What We're Looking For

• Strong hand-eye coordination
• Good attention to detail
• Basic computer skills
• Good communication and problem-solving skills
• Basic knowledge of soldering required
• Willingness to learn and accept direction from experienced team members
• Comfortable working with tools, soldering, and temperature testing processes
• Ability to read or learn to read mechanical drawings
• Able to routinely lift up to 20 pounds
• Reliable transportation
• Dependable attendance
• Willing to work overtime if needed.

Preferred Experience

• Basic electrical wiring or electronics knowledge
• Previous assembly or manufacturing experience
• Experience with brazing or welding
• Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, or small-part assembly
