Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an experienced professional to collaborate with Outside Sales Agents to design and propose automation installation projects for residential or commercial clients. You will ensure alignment with installation standards and accurately estimate labor hours, while exploring upsell opportunities.

Key traits include strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with a track record in design/build environments and delivering exceptional customer service.

  • 5+ years of experience in automation installation and custom design.
  • Proven ability to listen and meet customers’ needs.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Outside Sales Agents to evaluate customer needs and engineer accurate system proposals.
  • Oversee the design process with Sales to ensure solutions meet installation standards and labor hours.
  • Identify upselling opportunities and expand project scope with clients and agents.
  • Create, review and approve sales scope of work and maintain project documentation.
  • Serve as liaison between Outside Sales and Technical Installation teams for smooth handoffs.
  • Leverage vendor relationships to introduce new product lines and deliver team training.

Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Outside Sales Agents to evaluate customer needs and engineer accurate system proposals, including product selection, installation scope, and precise labor estimations.
  • Oversee the design process by assisting the Outside Sales Agents during customer consultations to ensure all solutions align with technical installation standards and allocated labor hours.
  • Partner with Outside Sales Agents and clients to identify upselling opportunities and expand project scope.
  • Assisting in the creation, review, and approval of sales scope of work.
  • Keep and update the proper project documentation in the appropriate systems.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Outside Sales and Technical Installation teams to ensure seamless project handoffs.
  • Leverage vendor and partner relationships to introduce new product lines, track promotions, manage product updates, and deliver team training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in automation installation and custom design.
  • Proven track record of custom systems design.
  • Demonstrated ability to listen and ask questions to meet customers’ needs.
  • A natural passion for developing professional relationships within the design/build community and with potential/existing clients.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Must be able to clear a background check and drug screening.
  • Clear MVR preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree is a plus, but real-world experience is preferred.
Other Preferred Skills/Abilities:
  • Prior experience in the following fields: Home Automation; Network Administration; Audio/Video Integration systems; High end lighting design and automated shades; Construction, design or architectural; Luxury products or services.
  • Analyze floor plan and work orders to ensure all items are identified correctly
  • Industry related knowledge and industry related products/solutions as they relate to the residential construction and security systems industry.
  • Meticulously organized – Ensures none of the details get missed.
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone.
  • You will be regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk, and hear.
  • Frequent use of step ladders and extension ladders.
  • Frequent amount of lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 100 pounds.
Work Environment:
  • Active construction sites.
  • Customer occupied homes.
  • Exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust.
  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, printers, and light traffic).
  • Office Setting.
  • Infrequent remote work with local and/or overnight travel required by vehicle.
