Job summary

Modine is seeking a Custom Fabricator / Welder to build high-performance make-up air systems in Kalamazoo. You will bring blueprints to life, assemble equipment, and work with precise tolerances using MIG welding and various fabrication tools.

You will read blueprints, measure and cut materials, and maintain safety while lifting and moving components. This hands-on role emphasizes craftsmanship, quality, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to read tape measures, perform basic math, and follow written instructions.
• Comfortable reading blueprints and technical drawings (or eager to learn).
• Experience with MIG welding and sheet metal fabrication.
• Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Bring blueprints to life by assembling make-up air equipment per specs and quality checklists.
• Mount fans, motors, burners, and gas manifolds following blueprints and CAD data (training provided).
• Safely operate forklifts and lift equipment to move components.
• Measure, cut, and install insulation to exacting standards.
• Complete checklists and suggest improvements to boost quality and efficiency.
• Maintain high productivity and deliver top-tier workmanship at all times.
