Job summary

Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) is seeking a skilled carpenter with strong packing/crating experience to design, build, and retrofit crates for equipment and assets. You will ensure crates meet contract specs, labeling standards, and traceability requirements while maintaining safety and quality.

The role requires reading simple drawings, math for measurements, and ability to manage multiple crates/projects with attention to detail and craftsmanship.

Qualifications

• Proven carpentry experience with strong packing/crating; design and build custom crates.
• Proficient with woodworking tools, fasteners, adhesives, sealants and interior fittings.
• Knowledge of basic math for measuring, tolerance and material calculations.
• Familiar with shipping/receiving, load plans, crate labeling and documentation.
• Safe tool operation, safety regs, and ability to read simple drawings and dimensions.
• Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship and quality orientation.
• Excellent organization and time management; handle multiple crates/projects.

Responsibilities

• Pack and crate production; design and build custom crates.
• Read drawings and spec crates; ensure accuracy of dimensions.
• Inspect crates for integrity; address defects and improve methods.
• Label, document, and track crates for traceability and compliance.
• Maintain safe, clean work area and follow safety procedures.
