Schumacher & Co. is seeking an Associate Production Designer to drive the design and artwork for our hospitality carpet program, coordinating with Patterson Flynn Custom and overseas mills.

You’ll translate client specifications into production-ready renderings and support the journey from concept to installed floor. You’ll collaborate with the Hospitality sales team, Project Managers, and the Design Directors to develop colorways, constructions, and room layouts, while managing revisions,

Qualifications

• 1–5 years of experience in rug/carpet or textile design and production.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Understanding of rug and carpet constructions, fiber types, and performance characteristics.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
• A clear, professional communicator, comfortable working with sales teams, account managers, and overseas suppliers.
• Detail-oriented with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
• A genuine appreciation for design quality and craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Create scaled digital artwork renderings (Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop) for custom carpet requests, including full-layout renderings, strike-offs, and room placements.
• Translate client specifications — colorways, pattern modifications, sizing, and construction details — into production-ready artwork files.
• Support revision cycles through to client sign-off, maintaining an organized archive of artwork versions.
• Send finalized artwork and color matches to vendors, digitally or via physical packages.
• Advise the Hospitality sales team on carpet constructions, fiber types, and performance characteristics for client requests.
• Support colorway and material development based on project requirements.
• Review client feedback on samples and strike-offs, and support the approvals process through to production release.
• Track orders through production milestones with mill partners, gathering technical specifications, costing, and production details.
• Flag delays or discrepancies to senior team members and help troubleshoot production or quality issues.
• Coordinate sample and strike-off shipments between mills, showrooms, and the sales team.
• Communicate technical specifications and artwork files clearly and accurately to mill teams.
• Share project details, timelines, and development updates with the Hospitality sales team.
• Support positive supplier relationships to help ensure efficient production, quality consistency, and timely delivery.
