Job summary

Tarrant County in Texas is seeking Detention Officers to supervise inmates around the clock in the county confinement system, ensuring the safety of inmate property and the care of all persons in custody.

The role includes responding to emergencies and drills, using force when necessary to prevent threats, monitoring inmate movements, handling mail and facilities maintenance, and completing required paperwork and training to maintain certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Must obtain Jailer License within one year
• Must possess a valid driver license and obtain a Texas license within 30 days of hiring
• Must be a U.S. Citizen

Responsibilities

• Supervise inmates and maintain safety and security in jail facilities
• Maintain custody and control of inmates during tours of duty
• Respond to emergencies and routine drills promptly and professionally
• Handle volatile situations quickly and appropriately to prevent harm
• Complete mandatory paperwork relating to custody and care of inmates
• Attend and complete all required training to maintain certification
