Job summary

The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Office is seeking a Deputy Sheriff-Custodial to escort, supervise and care for incarcerated persons across the Detention Center facilities, including REACT Center. You will help maintain order, enforce rules, and ensure safety for inmates and staff.

Candidates must meet peace officer standards, complete POST jail operations training within 12 months, and possess a valid CA driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Must meet peace officer standards per Government Code 1031.
• Complete POST jail operations training within 12 months.
• Possess valid California driver’s license.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Possess good moral character and not have disqualifying convictions.

Responsibilities

• Receives, books, searches, attends to and releases incarcerated persons in the SDC-East and West Facilities, Minimum Housing Unit, and REACT Center.
• Maintain order and discipline among incarcerated persons.
• Type booking slips, head-count rosters, incident reports, and other forms as required; serve civil process papers.
• Serve as a hospital guard; inspect sanitation and oversee feeding of incarcerated persons.
• Supervise daily activities of jail incarcerated persons; escort and transport to clinic, court, hospital, and state institutions.
• Make arrests pursuant to Penal Code 830.1(c).
