Job summary

Baldwin County is hiring part-time custodial staff to maintain cleanliness and order in county facilities. Tasks include cleaning restrooms, kitchens, and common areas; restocking supplies; trash removal; and basic maintenance of floors and fixtures.

You may assist with room setup, mail duties, and opening/closing buildings, while passing background checks and a pre-employment drug test. Willingness to work non-standard hours and overtime is required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect restrooms and kitchens; restock supplies.

Job description

Responsible for general cleaning and housekeeping duties as assigned by the Custodial Supervisor to ensure cleanliness, maintenance, and orderly appearance and operation of county facilities.

Part-time positions work no more than 29 hours per week on average. Additionally, part-time positions do not qualify for Baldwin County Commission benefits, with the exception of paid time off (PTO) and retirement through the Retirement Systems of Alabama.

Successful applicants must pass a criminal and motor vehicle background check and will be subject to a pre-employment drug test and physical.

1. Clean and disinfect restrooms.
2. Clean and disinfect kitchen/breakroom areas.
3. Restock paper items and cleaning supplies.
4. Sweep and mop floors.
5. Collect and dispose trash from offices and assigned areas. Empty and clean trash receptacles and replace liners in trash receptacles.
6. Empty outside ashtrays (if applicable).
7. Vacuum carpets and perform spot cleaning as necessary.
8. Sweep outside building entrances and pick up outside litter.
9. Mop stairwells and clean railings.
10. Dust furniture, counters, cabinets, window ledges, and blinds.
11. Clean and wipe down water fountains, walls, doors, counters, mirrors, glass.
12. Rearrange furniture as needed.
13. Perform other duties as assigned by Custodial Supervisor.

1. Direct general public and visitors to various locations as required in a courteous and professional manner.
2. Report supply needs to team leader/supervisor and assist with stocking and storing of supplies.
3. Assists with setting up rooms for meetings or events as necessary.
4. Performs mailroom duties as assigned.
5. Opens and secures county facilities as required.

2. Verbal skills to effectively communicate with supervisors, co-workers, and the general public.

5. Skills to do basic daily maintenance on vacuum cleaners (clean hoses and related equipment to insure proper operation).
6. *Strip, wax, and buff floors periodic as required.
7. Ability to climb stairs, bend, reach, and stand for long periods of time.
