Job Summary

Provides a variety of cleaning duties and maintains the building to ensure the upkeep, neatness, and cleanliness of the same on a daily basis.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of effective cleaning and sanitizing practices, general building and grounds maintenance practices and procedures including proper safety precautions.
• Ability to perform routine cleaning duties, minor repairs, and maintenance activities of buildings and grounds.
• Ability to use and maintain cleaning and maintenance equipment and tools effectively and in a safe manner.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle following all laws, regulations, and policies.

Education and Experience

No formal education required, And six months experience performing general janitorial and general maintenance duties; or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

• Ability to meet attendance requirements.
• Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.
• Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
• Ability to exert the physical energy required to perform the needed janitorial, and maintenance work.
• Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle safely following all laws, regulations, and policies.
• Duties are performed standing and requires squatting, climbing, bending and walking. Any of the preceding duties may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of sitting.
• Extensive amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying heavy objects (up to 75 lbs.) frequently.
