About the role

Part‑time 9am‑3pm Shift (Monday – Friday)

Hours will range from 25–29 hours/week.

Create a welcoming and conducive environment for the school community by maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for all occupants of the school. By diligently carrying out their duties, custodians contribute to the overall well‑being and smooth functioning of the educational institution.

What you’ll do

• Keep buildings and premises, including walkways, parking lot and play areas neat and clean at all times.
• Regulate heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate for the season and ensures economical usage of fuel, water and electricity.
• Shovel, plow and salt sidewalks, driveways, parking areas and steps, as appropriate.
• Scrub, hose down, and disinfect bathroom floors and clean all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains on a daily basis.
• Perform yard‑keeping chores such as grass cutting and tree trimming, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
• Assume responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining that all doors and windows are secured and that all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.
• Keep an inventory of supplies, equipment and fuel on hand.
• Conduct periodic inspections and tests of all electrical installations in the school to ensure their safe condition.
• Coordinate and work with volunteers in their efforts to beautify Academy grounds.
• Report any damage to school property.
• Carry out other duties assigned by the principal and/or Choice Schools.
