Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic school environment.
• Keep building interiors, walkways, and grounds tidy at all times.
• Regulate HVAC for comfortable, energy-efficient conditions.
• Shovel, plow, and salt sidewalks and entryways as needed.
• Disinfect bathrooms and clean fixtures daily.
• Perform yard work and grounds maintenance as required.
• Open/close the building, secure doors/windows, and power down non-essential lights.
• Track supplies and fuel inventory; coordinate with volunteers.
• Report property damage and coordinate with the principal and Choice Schools.

About the role

Part-time 9am-3pm Shift (Monday - Friday)

Hours will range from 25-29 hours/week.

Create a welcoming and conducive environment for the school community by maintaining a clean, safe, and hygienic environment for all occupants of the school. By diligently carrying out their duties, custodians contribute to the overall well-being and smooth functioning of the educational institution.

What you'll do

• Keeps buildings and premises, including walkways, parking lot and play areas neat and clean at all times.
• Regulates heat, ventilation and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate for the season and ensures economical usage of fuel, water and electricity.
• Shovels, plows and salts sidewalks, driveways, parking areas and steps, as appropriate.
• Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects bathroom floors and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains on a daily basis.
• Performs such yard-keeping chores as grass cutting and tree trimming, as necessary, to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition
• Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining that all doors and windows are secured and that all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.
• Keeps an inventory of supplies, equipment and fuel on hand.
• Conducts periodic inspections and tests of all electrical installations in the school to ensure their safe condition.
• Coordinates and works with volunteers in their efforts to beautify Academy grounds.
• Reports any damage to school property.
• Carries out other duties assigned by the principal and/or Choice Schools

Qualifications

While we will consider a broad range of backgrounds, the ideal candidate would have the following qualifications/experience:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Solid record of punctuality.
