Job summary

Daytona State College is seeking a custodial worker for an evening shift (2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.) to manage trash removal, classroom and facility cleaning, chalkboard maintenance, and security of the premises.

Qualified candidates will have at least six months of custodial experience, a valid Florida driver’s license to operate college vehicles when needed, and their own transportation to report to other college locations as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Picks up and removes trash from classrooms, labs, offices, restrooms and theatres; cleans chalkboards, whiteboards and erasers daily; turns off lights and secures doors.
• Cleans glass, chrome, and exits across facilities (classrooms, labs, offices, theatres, lecture rooms, conference rooms, gym, amphitheaters).
• Floor maintenance including damp/wet mops, vacuuming, shampooing, stripping, waxing, buffing as directed.

Working Hours: 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.

• Picks up and removes all trash from assigned areas in classrooms, labs, offices, restrooms and theatres, etc. (or other areas as directed). Cleans all chalkboards, blackboards, whiteboards, and erasers on a daily basis. Turns off all lights and secures doors.
• Cleans glass, chrome, and exits on all college facilities as designated, including but not limited to classrooms, labs, offices, theatres, lecture rooms, conference rooms, gymnasium, amphitheaters. etc.
• Damp and wet mops vinyl and tile floors. Vacuums floors and carpets. Performs floor maintenance such as vacuuming, shampooing, stripping and waxing, buffing, etc., in assigned areas as directed.

• This position requires walking, standing, stooping, stretching, pushing, pulling, reaching, and lifting all of the time, exerting at least 20 pounds of force on a recurring basis.
• This position will experience exposure to indoor and outdoor temperatures.
• Must be able to follow oral and/or written communications.
• Must have computer knowledge to clock in/out and view other personnel related information.
