Job summary

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a part-time Custodial-Night Porter for the Downtown area of Honolulu, HI. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and able to stand and walk for extended shifts, working independently or as part of a team.

Schedule: Sunday to Thursday, 4:00PM–9:00PM or 4:30PM–9:30PM (19.5 hours weekly). Hourly pay rate: $17.50. Training will be provided; prior custodial experience is not required.

Qualifications

• Must successfully pass prescreen check.
• Previous experience in custodial or cleaning roles is desirable.
• Willingness to learn and participate in training for the position.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the workday.
• Physically capable of lifting 25 to 50 pounds and operating cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning, dusting, and sanitizing restrooms and common areas.
• Sweep, mop, scrub and vacuum floors.
• Restroom cleaning; Empty trash and recycling; dispose of waste.
• Restock supplies such as soap and paper products.
• Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies; report maintenance issues or hazards.
• Ensure a clean and orderly environment for staff and visitors.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the HBM supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cleaning, dusting, and sanitizing restrooms and common areas.

• Maintaining cleaning equipment and supplies.
• Reporting any maintenance issues or safety hazards.
• Ensuring a clean and orderly environment for staff and visitors.
• Perform other tasks as directed by the HBM supervisor

Skills and Qualifications:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Must successfully pass prescreen check.
• Previous experience in custodial or cleaning roles is desirable.
• Ability to perform tasks in various weather conditions.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the workday.
• Physically capable of carrying, lifting, pushing, or pulling between 25 to 50 pounds, as well as standing for long stretches and performing tasks like stretching, kneeling, bending, crawling, climbing, and pressing.
• Competence in safely and effectively operating cleaning equipment.
• Willingness to learn and participate in training for the position.
• Capability to work independently and manage time efficiently
• Good communication skills in English and the ability to work well in a team.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive attitude towards maintaining cleanliness standards.
