General Duties and Responsibilities:Perform routine manual work in the cleaning and maintenance of recreation facilities and grounds. Duties include cleaning and maintaining the interior and exterior of the facility by such tasks as sweeping, mopping, removing litter, setting up tables and chairs; providing general assistance to patrons, and making minor repairs. Additional duties include maintaining cleanliness of the Optimist Complex, including clubhouse; maintaining outdoor restrooms, shelters, and park area (including trash receptacles).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must have ability to follow simple oral and written instructions; ability to maintain effective relationships with the public and other employees; excellent customer service skills. Must have knowledge of cleaning methods and materials and the ability to utilize cleaning supplies in an effective manner, including floor buffer; ability to maintain cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the facility; ability to lift 25 lbs. frequently and push/pull up to 50 lbs. routinely and perform a variety of manual work, including such physical tasks as standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, and kneeling.

Requirements:NC Drivers License required. Some experience in general cleaning and maintenance work required. Experience in using a buffer, and stripping and waxing of floors strongly preferred.

Normal Work Hours:Monday – Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.; some weekend and holiday work and work during special events may be required.
