Job summary

Georgia State University is hiring a Custodian I (Temp) for the Student Center. The role runs Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, performing cleaning duties to maintain offices, classrooms, hallways, laboratories, lobbies, lounges, elevators, stairways and restrooms.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED with six months of experience in an institutional, industrial, or commercial setting. Training in custodial practices is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and polish lighting fixtures, marble surfaces and trims.
• Wash walls, woodwork, windows, door panels and sills.
• Sweep, vacuum, mop, scrub, and wax floors; restock restrooms and supply closets.
• Handle emergency clean-ups as needed.
• Set up chairs, tables, and equipment in classrooms and meeting rooms.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

The Student Center at Georgia State University is seeking to hire a Custodian I (Temp). This shift is M-F, 3pm - 11:30pm.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

The Custodian I (Temp) maintain the appearance of offices, classrooms, hallways, laboratories, lobbies, lounges, elevators, stairways and restrooms by performing housekeeping duties, such as cleaning counters, equipment and furnishings, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and removing trash.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces and trims.
• Washes walls and woodwork; washes windows, door panels and sills.
• Sweeps, vacuums, dust mops, wet mops, scrubs, strips, restores, buffs, and waxes floors.
• Restocks supply closets and restrooms.
• Handles emergency clean-ups.
• Sets up chairs, tables, and other equipment in classrooms, meeting rooms, and other public areas as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED and Six months experience working in an institutional, industrial or commercial setting. Must pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Requirements:

• Knowledge of the operation and use of equipment and tools used in the care and cleaning of buildings.
• Knowledge of custodial service practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Knowledge of the Georgia State University (GSU) campus, buildings and facilities.
