Job summary

Georgia State University is seeking a Custodian I (Temp) at the Student Center in Atlanta to maintain clean and orderly offices, classrooms, hallways, and restrooms. Responsibilities include dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, trash removal, and set-up of chairs and equipment for events.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least six months of institutional cleaning experience, plus the ability to pass a criminal background check. This is a temporary on-campus role.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces and trims.
• Washes walls and woodwork; washes windows, door panels and sills.
• Sweeps, vacuums, dust mops, wet mops, scrubs, strips, restores, buffs, and waxes floors.
• Restocks supply closets and restrooms.
• Handles emergency clean-ups.
• Sets up chairs, tables, and other equipment in classrooms, meeting rooms, and other public areas as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

The Custodian I (Temp) maintain the appearance of offices, classrooms, hallways, laboratories, lobbies, lounges, elevators, stairways and restrooms by performing housekeeping duties, such as cleaning counters, equipment and furnishings, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and removing trash.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Cleans and polishes lighting fixtures, marble surfaces and trims.
• Washes walls and woodwork; washes windows, door panels and sills.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED and Six months experience working in an institutional, industrial or commercial setting. Must pass a criminal background check.

Preferred Requirements:

• Knowledge of the operation and use of equipment and tools used in the care and cleaning of buildings.
• Knowledge of custodial service practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Knowledge of the Georgia State University (GSU) campus, buildings and facilities.
