The City of Evans is seeking a Custodian I/II to maintain clean and orderly interiors, perform custodial duties, and assist in minor building maintenance. The role supports daily operations across Recreation spaces in the Public Works & Utilities department with a rotating shift schedule.

The Custodian I.II is u under general supervision and keeps assigned building interiors clean and orderly; performs a variety of custodial and minor building maintenance duties as assigned. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are generally filled from level I to level II internally by advancements, and when filled from the outside, require previous and directly related experience.
The Custodian I is under immediate supervision; this is the entry-level class in the Custodian series. Employees are not required to have directly related work experience. Work is observed and reviewed both during performance and upon completion. Once trained in specific tasks, employees are expected to work with limited supervision.
The Custodian II is under general supervision; this is the journey-level class in the Custodian series. Employees assigned to this class are expected to perform the full range of duties assigned and to work with considerable independence and initiative. Employees receive very minimal instruction or assistance. Positions at this level may oversee and direct moderate to complex projects. May lead, train, and monitor less experienced custodians.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to exercise mental and visual concentration, listen, talk, stand, reach, twist, demonstrate manual dexterity, walk on level, uneven and slippery terrain, turn, kneel, bend, stoop, squat, balance, crouch, crawl, grasp, pinch, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The employee will need to lift, carry, and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds on an occasional basis and 20 to 50 pounds on a frequent basis. The employee will need to climb ladders, work in Confined Spaces, use power equipment/tools that produce vibration and noise, and work in Work Zones with moderate to heavy traffic. The employee regularly works in all outside weather conditions near moving equipment in areas with elevated noise levels and where chemicals may be utilized.
