Job summary

Royal Oaks Retirement Community is seeking a dedicated Custodian I to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions across the facility. The role offers rewarding work with comprehensive benefits and a starting wage of $16.25 per hour, a full-time Sunday-Thursday schedule from 2:00pm to 10:30pm in Sun City, AZ.

Under supervision, you will perform routine custodial tasks, assist on floor care, and help set up for events while ensuring a welcoming environment for residents and staff alike.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; one year custodial experience.
• Knowledge of custodial, housekeeping, or floor care.
• Able to communicate in English with residents and staff.
• Willingness to use iPad; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Cleans various areas by sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing and polishing.
• Operates wet/dry vacuum and assists on floor maintenance with stripping, buffing and waxing.
• Restocks supplies and maintains organized storage areas.
• Sets up furniture for events and assists other departments as needed.
• Performs custodial tasks to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions.

Position Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Environmental Services Supervisor, performs routine manual tasks in maintaining the cleanliness, sanitary conditions and appearance of our facility.

Brief Overview Of Major Duties

• Cleans garden and assisted living homes, apartments, rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and any other assigned areas by sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing; including light upholstery cleaning.
• Cleaning of Spa Rooms and Equipment except the inside of the Tub and that portion of the Transfer Chair inside the tub when being used.
• Empties and decontaminates trash containers.
• Disposes of infectious waste when necessary.
• Replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand cleaner/soap.
• Keeps storage areas well stocked, clean, and organized.
• Ability to use proper/correct dilutions of cleaning agent as instructed by the manufacturer.
• Operates wet/dry vacuum for cleaning and shampooing carpeted areas.
• Assists on floor maintenance crew whose work involves the principal responsibility for stripping, buffing and waxing floors with industrial grade machinery.
• Assists as needed on set-up crew with principal responsibilities for setting up tables, chairs, and other furniture for special meetings, banquets, auctions or other events.
• Performs many varied custodial tasks related to the maintenance of the facility.
• Performs custodial related duties required to maintain cleanliness and sanitary conditions.
• Attends all meetings as required and assists other departments as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities

• Has knowledge of custodial, housekeeping, laundry operations and floor care.
• Is organized, able to multi-task, think creatively and adapt to different situations.
• Preferably has knowledge on using iPad. Training will be provided.
• Must be able to complete training on computer and/or other devices.
• Maintain competency in the position and knowledge of trade/industry advances and new technologies.
• Must be able to effectively communicate in English with all levels of staff, residents, and guests.

Education And Experience

• Preferably has a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Preferably has one year of experience in custodial, housekeeping, or other related work.

Licenses And Certifications

• Has current and valid Fingerprint clearance card or can apply for one within 20 days of hire.
• If above driving duties apply, has current, valid driver’s license. Driving record must meet the criteria set forth by Royal Oaks’ insurance carrier.
• If applicable, has a Certificate of Completion for memory care services training or obtains within 30 days of hire and complies with annual certification requirements.

Physical Requirements

• Is able to carry/lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds.
• May need to operate a fire extinguisher.
• Is able to assist in evacuation procedures.

Essential Functions
